The International Baccalaureate Theatre Curriculum:
The Future of International Theatre Education

This honors thesis will consider to what extent the International Baccalaureate (IB) Theatre syllabus serves international schools and their students within different cultural, political, and socio-economic conditions on four continents – Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America.  This work will examine the ways in which the IB Theatre program and its alliances are contributing to the globalization of theatre arts, creating a network of up and coming theatre artists.  Finally, it will consider the role that the IB Theatre program might play in international theatre education more generally in the future.  Ultimately, by uniting personal experience with participant observation and secondary literature, this thesis will endeavor to evaluate and challenge the IB Theatre course and seek to predict the future of theatre education worldwide.
